Municipal Elections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv

It is with disappointment that I read the morning news.  The incumbent mayors of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv won their respective votes and get another term.  Is this good for Israel?  In the past, this type of favoritism especially in Jerusalem led to the 26 year oligarchy of Teddy Kolleck.  The city did not progress, and the schism between the Hiloni and Religious traditional public, was widened.  Barkat says that he wants the Holy City of Jerusalem to be like London, New York and Tel Aviv.  This is a big mistake.  Jerusalem is special, and people come here to feel the holiness.  The population doesn't want car races, gay parades and things like that.  They disrupt the normal day to day running of the city.  Why?  So Barkat can say that he is doing something?  Why not help the residents? Reduce waste, on the street and in city hall.  On more than one occasion, when I have had to go to the Municipal building, I am always shocked to see all the desks in building 3 empty.  Where are the people?  There are papers on all the desks, the phones ring, no one answers, each cubicle has a name, but there is no one home.  "Maybe they are on break,"  you say,  "At 10:30am?" If these people can't do their jobs, then fire the lot and bring in others who will.  What do these people do? I have no idea.   If I had a building full of people who are idle, I would put them to work, believe me, I could get a lot done.

Also related to this point, the politicians, should back wholeheartedly the bill that has been proposed for them to take a 10% paycut.  We out in the real world have had to deal with the sluggish economy, why do they get a free ride?  Not that I really support Yesh Atid, and Yisrael Beitanu, they are very aggressive towards the Religious Sector, but here they do have a good idea.  http://www.jpost.com/Diplomacy-and-Politics/Yesh-Atid-MK-brings-back-proposal-to-cut-politicians-salaries-by-10-percent-329476 I don't agree that the 10% won't solve a problem, also fire all the dead weight in City Hall who get their salary and don't work!  The Taxpayers deserve to have a full accounting of who is working and who just sits back and does nothing.    NU?
