Supermarket price wars

There is a lot of talk nowadays about lowering the prices in the supermarkets.  In Talpiot, Jerusalem, the markets via with each other to get the most customers by offering some products at belo  w cost, hoping that people will come into the store and then buy higher profit margin products.    The lines are long, the customers get antzy and everyone is happy when the ordeal is over and you have paid for your food and get home.
The store cuts down on other things that add to the shopping experience,  The plastic bags are so thin, that if you put a bottle of wine inside, you are lucky to bring it to the car, it has happened to me that the bag breaks as you lift the bottle out of the cart!

But what do people really want?  When I go to the supermarket, I want fair prices, but most of all I want a clean store, enough products on the shelves, the price on the shelf matches the price on the product, matches what is in the computer,  bags that don't break, and at least a checker who smiles at me.  They don't have to actually say thank you, but it helps.

How does your supermarket check out?
