Kids grown up? How to interact with them now. Life Coach Jerusalem

Sunday afternoon at the Kotel, in Jerusalem

If your kids are grown up, and even as they are growing up the parents roles have to change.  Gone are the days that you can order the kid to do something.
Now you have to persuade and explain why the task at hand is important and why you have asked for the "kid" to help you with the task.

We have to change our viewpoint of our offspring and show them respect for the knowldege and the different viewpoint that they can bring to the conversation.

It is difficult for sure to change our perceptions of our kids, after all we took care of them when they were babies, and then toddlers, and so on.  But the adult years last far longer than the childhood years that it behooves us as parents to build a good relationship with our adult kids.

We need to find areas that we have still in common and build good experiences between us.  Maybe going out for coffee, or to the Mall.  See a movie together.  If there have been arguments in the past, don't talk about them again.  Leave the argument in the past.

Give good experiences, not necessarily money.
It may take a long time, but it is worth it!

singles with disabilities - create social change

Dear singles with disabilities (two objectifying categories that I despise),

- Are you being turned into a disability instead of being seen as person?
- Are people not looking at or caring who you are?
- Are people categorizing you, thinking they know things about you, lumping you in a box that isn't you
- Has your medical issues/disability become your master identity?
-
Are you scared about getting into a relationship – scared of people
rejecting you because of your supposedly different body or mind?

I
know most people will not want to respond to this email for fear of
boxing themselves into the very narrow confines of being a person with a
disability. I know many will be scared of yet another experience of
being offered "help" or "support" for their "poor misfortune". That's
not what this is.

My idea: social change. Let us be active. Lets find a way together
to change the ways in which medical issues and disabilities are
perceived in the Jewish communities. Let's collaborate. Let's be
creative. Let's think about ways to move out of these boxes.
If you are interested...
And are a single person with a medical issue or disability
Or are a married person whose been through this and knows what its all about….
And are interested in regaining your power.
Email me. protectourspeech@yahoo.com
Let us figure something out.

Mommy Tip: A goal a day keeps depression away

Having a goal for each day can really
add some umph to your day. Setting a
goal for the day will not only make
your day more productive, it will
enhance your day by giving it some meaning.

There are all types of goals one can have.
Goals can be something active,
like things you’d like to get done that
day or something more mental like
working on yourself.

For example, goals could include putting
in a load of laundry, baking a
dessert for shabbat, not screaming at
the kids, only check email once today,
etc.

Here’s a story from my own life:

I woke up one morning after having gotten
VERY little sleep the night
before. All I could think about was how
I couldn’t wait for the day to be
over so I could crawl back into bed and
go back to sleep. What a waste of a
day! I decided to make a goal for myself.
Often, when I’ve gotten very
little sleep, I have much less patience for
my kids, find myself getting
frustrated, yelling, etc. My goal for the
day was that despite the lack of
sleep, I was going to control myself.
I would remain patient and calm
throughout the day (I was a stay at home
mom for 2 little kids at the time.)
By setting this goal for myself, it brought
meaning into my day. My day
suddenly became an exciting challenge
to live up to. I was energized. It
was no more a potential “wasted” day.

I challenge you to make small goals for
yourself each morning when you wake
up, and see how it changes *your *day.

ADHD: It's Your Childs Greatest Asset To Succeeding

Daniel's parents just got the evaluation back and Daniel HAS ADHD.
Daniel's behaviour has got progressively worse both at home and school.
You knew that this was out there but never thought it would effect your
family.
Where to turn to? What information is out there? How to best help your
child?

Daniel's parents want to know more about this thing called ADHD.
Daniel's parents want to know how to help their struggling son
Daniel's parents want the tools, techniques and skills to succeed with
their son

This is Where we at ADHDiversity come in.
We see ADHD "AS THE GREATEST GIFT YOU COULD HAVE"
and we teach you and your child how to make it the greatest gift.

If you want to see your child succeed
If you want to experience the joy of watching your child blossom
If you want to participate in elevating your child's self esteem levels

ADHDiversity is waiting for you.
ADHDiversity where we give you the right way to look, deal and blossom
with ADHDiversity
ADHDiversity making ADHD your biggest asset, to your greatest
success....Daniel's Parents Did, and so did Daniel

ADHDiversity Tip of the week: Many times there are "things" that bug us
that we do( and may do very well) and others seem oblivious to. You may
very good at time management and be frustrated to no end that you child,
spouse or friend just seems to be so "inconsiderate" in this area. News
flash. This (like many other issues) is a skill, if you have learnt (and
mastered) this skill, that does not mean the other person has. When
dealing with ADHD people more often than not, these skills are what they
have weaknesses in. So instead of getting angry, annoyed and shouting,
get smart and learn about how to build up an executive skill.
