Religious Party, castigated the decision of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to
appoint left-wing Meretz party council member Meir Margalit to handle the
ultra-sensitive East Jerusalem file in the municipality.

"It has become clear that the Mayor is a dangerous left-wing supporter. This
disproves any attempts to 'paint him orange' [the color theme of the secular
and religious activity against the Gush Katif expulsion, ed.] or associate
him with the right-wing. Anyone who appoints a Meretz representative is not
in the right-wing."

King warns that Barkat may yet endanger

Aryeh King has recently opposed the legalizationof 95% of some 200 illegal
Arab structures in the East Jerusalem Silwan neighborhood. he has also
opposed the construction of a commercial center on the Mount of Olives, in
the heart of biblical Jerusalem, and the construction of a large mosque near
the gravesite of the late PM Menachem Begin which has been suspended as a
result.

Municipal Council member, lawyer Yair Gabbai, and the Jerusalem municipality
representative on the Planning and Zoning District Committee, calls upon the
city's religious Zionist voters to boycott Barkat after his decision:

Yakir Segev, but Barkat signed a coalition deal with Meretz and intends to

Gabbai claims that Margalit belongs to the extreme left-wing:

"He leads the Committee against the Demolishing of Homes, an organization
that supports a boycott of Israel, and rebuilds East Jerusalem court-order
demolished homes. He will be in a position to approve or deny demolishing in
East Jerusalem, and this is a severe conflict of interests. From now on, the
municipality representative on any possible forum will be a Meretz man in
favor of the division of the city. He has been defaming the State of Israel
for years, and will now decide on East Jerusalem projects. The Mayor has
made a 'left turn', and the public should relate to him accordingly."

The Meretz left-wing party that Dr. Meir Margalit belongs to, supports a
Palestinian state, the dismantling of most of the Jewish towns in Judea and
Samaria, and the division of Jerusalem. WE NEED ANOTHER MAYOR.

Stop the Loudspeakers the 100 decibel blaring music before Shabbat!

If you are like me and have lived in Jerusalem for many years,
you will have been subjected to loud music blaring right before
Shabbat for the past two years.

I have found a place that you can complain about this.
The residents have not asked for this "service" and we want to
stop it for a number of reasons. What

First,  what was wrong with the status quo that we
had for many years of a simple siren?

Why do we need someone's choice of music blaring at over
100 decibels right outside your windows?
\Secondly, what about all the people who take Shabbat in early?
This music is scheduled to blare at Candlelighting.  This is in the
middle of the Plag HaMincha.  It interrupts the tranquility of
Shabbat that these people are working on.

Thirdly, Do we really need music this loud during the
Counting of the Omer?  There are many religious people who
observe not listening to music during this time.  This loud music
is making them do what they feel is an averia.


We Jewish people are holy, and we live for Shabbat.
We really do know when Shabbat comes in and we
don't need to be nagged like this.  Let's go back to
having quiet before Shabbat and let each family
decide by themselves how they want to bring in the
Holy Day of the week.  I like to have quiet, restful,
not loud blaring music at all.  I don't even play loud
blaring music during the week, so to have to have this
right before the most important day of the week is not acceptable!

Lights of Hope 720- meter-long flag on the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem

Hi Everyone!

Last night, the eve of Israel Independence Day,  I was in Jerusalem
and on the way home I took photos of the "Lights of Hope",
a 720- meter-long flag on the walls of the Old City near Jaffa Gate.
The flag project is to raise awareness and funds for at-risk youth.
