Are you interested in learning about Chinese Medicine and Herbology?Come to Aliza's Place on Tuesday July 26 at 10:00 am when there will be an Open House/ Registration in order to hear about Aliza's beginners' course in Chinese Medicine and Herbology. The program should last for about two hours. At this time Aliza will give an introduction to the program, and (hopefully) any questions you may have will be answered. This will also be the time to officially register and to take care of your payment.
Classes officially begin the next week on Tuesday August 2. All classes will be given on Tuesdays from 10 am until 1 pm.
The week after this is Tisha b'av when there will be no class. If most students will be away during the rest of August, we will not resume classes until August 30.
At the end of around 9 months of classes, you will have a strong foundation in the zhang fu system and you should be ready to start working in the clinic under Aliza's supervision. Obviously the length of study time is different for each person, and those students who have a partial background in Chinese Medicine and Herbology have the possibility of being streamlined into the advanced practicum at an earlier time.
But however long it takes, by the end of the classes and the practicum, you will have learned 'how to put it all together.' You will have learned how to diagnose what is going on in a client, what strategy to use in order to fix it, and how to convey this information to the client. You will also have learned how to assess if your herbal remedy actually worked.
A certificate will be granted based on satisfactory completion of all requirements.

New Photography Classes!
Diamond Images School of Photography is proud to present its new photography courses.
Starting Tuesday Sept. 6th, from 8:00-9:30 p.m., our foundational course
is a thorough 10 week course to help women become great photographers.
It is geared for those who are looking to move to a professional level, as
well as those who are looking to pursue photography as a hobby.
We cover all the basics (such as composition, camera controls, exposure,
unique perspectives, aperture, shutterspeed, iso, etc...)
with field trips for real hands on experience.

New Klezmer Band for girls opening up in September!
New Klezmer Band for Girls opening up in September in Givat Shaul.
We will play Jewish music arranged by Max Stern, and Rachael Orbach.
We need the following instruments, clarinet, flute, saxophone, drums, bass,
french horn, guitar, and keyboard.
Auditions will be held at the end of August.
If you want to brush up on clarinet, flute, saxophone or guitar, now is the

Additional Details about the Study/Practicum in Chinese Medicine and Herbology
Because of the response to our previous email from people with different backgrounds in Chinese Medicine, we are planning on offering two different tracks of study/field work: one for advanced students who already have a solid background in Chinese medicine and herbology, and another one for beginners which will focus on teaching basic Chinese Medicine from a very practical viewpoint, the goal being to be able to independently work in this area.
Aliza is looking to train TCM (Chinese medicine) herbalists /students
to work at Aliza's Place.
Are you looking for an interesting profession? Would you like to learn more about Chinese Medicine and using herbal remedies? Or if you already have a background in Chinese Medicine, are you looking to do your practicum in a dynamic herbal clinic where you will have real hands-on experience with clients? With diagnosis? With developing herbal remedies that really work?
You can have all of this. And most importantly, you will have access to Aliza Adar Levine, RNMH, Nurse, Midwife, TCM Herbalist, Medical Researcher, Writer and Teacher.
Practicum for Advanced Students
1) There will be a few Orientation sessions of 2 - 3 hours each (to go over Aliza's Diagnostic Questionnaire, to explain certain things about how the clinic is run, to discuss how to work with clients, etc ).
2) As soon as you are ready (which could be a month or which could be as soon as two weeks; this depends on you), you will start working with Aliza at the clinic, sitting in with her for some of her appointments. This will be for 2 - 3 hours a week, and depending on your own background and knowledge, it should be very short term. Along with this, there will also be a weekly meeting of about 2 hours with Aliza to discuss issues related to the clinical work.
3) When Aliza feels you are ready, you will start seeing clients on your own. The actual days and times will depend on your own schedule and the schedule of the other students. Along with this clinical work, once a week there will be a meeting with Aliza for client presentation. Aliza will have total supervision of your work, and she will be in charge of making all herb formulas until she feels that you are ready to do this on your own.
4) There will be a mini-course on reading blood tests which you will want to take, since you will be required to analyze clients' blood tests and to write up reports about their results. You will also be required to take a mini-course on tongue assessment. (Aliza can waive the requirement to take these courses, depending on your background) During this time you will be expected to write reports about other related subjects.
The practicum will run for a minimum of 4 months and will cost 1200 shekels a month. This includes the orientation sessions, supervision, meetings with Aliza to discuss the clients, clinical work, and the required courses as mentioned above. A certificate will be granted based on satisfactory completion of all requirements. Exact dates and times of all meetings and work will depend on the participants.
Towards the end of the summer, Aliza will begin giving ongoing classes for a few hours once a week where different subjects will be studied. The first study module will be gynecology which will cover infertility, period problems, and menopause. These classes will be optional (although recommended), and therefore are not included in the price for the practicum.

The focus of the course is to introduce you to hands-on practice, including the ability to do intakes, to read medical/blood tests, to diagnose, to develop treatment strategies that work, to learn about herbs and herbal formulas, and how to successfully work with patients.Background in Chinese medicine/Herbs needed. Successful mastery of training qualifies you for employment as a TCM herbalist in our clinic.

Your anecdotes about agricultural life in Europe, about i
mmigration to North America, about your klitah process
in Israel
and more, all make wonderful stories. Your special moments
deserve to be retold again and again. Akin to how scrapbooks
help us classify and store our visual memories, recording
narratives helps us classify and store our verbal ones.
Develop skills for preserving your valuable, humorous and serious insights.
No writing experience needed. Students, however,
must be willing to consider their ideas important and themselves valuable.

I. Selecting among Your Experiences and Fancies
II. The Chronology of a Story
III. Nay-saying Your Internal Critics
IV. Content and Style vs. Point-of-View
Class Time: Students Participate as Much or as Little as They Want
I. Prior to class, examples emailed to students.
II. Discussion/critique of examples and of weekly topic.
III. Writing empowerment exercises.
IV. Brief, in class, writing.
V. After class, homework.
