Mizvah, Ezrat Avot!

Ezrat Avot
Ezrat Avot is a leader in non-profit, community eldercare in Israel and a strong advocate of providing the services and education necessary to enable seniors to age in the comfort and dignity of their own homes and communities. Ezrat Avot was founded in 1976 and was originally established as a soup kitchen and center for the local elderly population in the destitute neighborhood of Nachalat Tzvi.
Ezrat Avot has since grown into a multi-faceted organization providing nutritional and social services, elder-abuse awareness, resources and intergenerational education to the elderly of Jerusalem and beyond.
Ezrat Avot delivers 800 weekly meals to homebound seniors in Jerusalem. These meals are entirely free and tailored for those suffering from diabetes or cancer – containing no sugar, salt, fat or preservatives. Each week Ezrat Avot distributes 200 dry food packages as well as holiday distributions of 2,500 food parcels.

Ezrat Avot runs a senior citizen center offering free daily cultural, educational programs and hot meals to the elderly.

Ezrat Avot is always looking for new volunteers to come and help prepare the meals which are delivered to the homebound. If anyone would like to come and volunteer, Sunday- Wednesday afternoons, we would be grateful for all the help we can receive, especially over the summer when most of our student volunteers end their gap year and go back home.
