The music business has changed from the record in the Internet Age!

The music industry has changed from vinal, CD to the Sound Cloud , YouTube age!  If you are a musician and want to get exposure, in the past the record companies chose their artists for free. How do you think that Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen got famous? Their record company put money behind them.  Did Bob Dylan PAY to have his music reviewed?  No sir ree!

But those days are long past.  Nowadays if you want exposure, you have to pay.  Just today while I was browising Twitter, I found two different sites that want the musician to PAY them to put out posts.  One wants a musican to put out from $7 -$12 a song to get promoted to have 1000 or 2000 hits on Sound Cloud.
Another wants $5 so that a song can have three Instagram posts.

I don't know about you, but this seems like the musican now has to pay for all the promotion of their music.

Is it fair?

The rich will always be more popular than the poor.    Here is one of my latest songs. You are the public. What do you think?  Should I pay to get it promoted?

 All the best,
Rachael Alice Orbach
