Winter time officially starts on October 25th

Although some of us in Israel had a rude awakening this morning and some of us were almost late to work and school.  For some reason, Google and the Internet infrastructure automatically changed the clocks . . . more than a month early.  But don't worry folks, we really only change the time on October 25th, just link in England, and most of Europe,

But really the question remains, why do we do this?  Does it really give us economic benefit to change the clocks back and forth?  In my humble opinion, it doesn't do anything. period.  Most factories are 24 hours, and they turn on the lights 24/6 (we are in Israel of course). Almost everyone turns on the light and always works with florescent energy saving bulbs.

What are the real costs?  Human costs.  When the time changes, either way there is always a loss of productivity.  People miss the time change,  get to work late,  and in the elderly there can be health problems, they are waiting for their caregiver, who comes an hour later.  It might be too late.

We in the modern world need to stop the archaic custom, just pick a time and leave it.
