Coloring hair needs lots of care

Coloring hair needs lots of planning and care, before the process as well as during the actual coloring.

Before I do a hair color job, I meet with the client to discuss any color issues that have happened in the past, allergies and of course the current color choices.  I do an allergy test, take a bit of the hair color, place it behind the ear, and wait 48 hours.  If there is no reaction, then it is safe to do the hair color.  Usually there are no problems, but it is best to be safe than sorry.

Most hair coloring products have ammonia, and use hydrogen peroxide to help the dye work.  I use these products if the client has used them in the
past and everything has gone well.  Professional hair color products are more reliable than what you buy in the drug store, for the most part. What you see on the color chart is usually what you are going to get as a finished product.  But if the client wants to cover grey hair, then you have to mix two different bases, so the final look will turn out correctly.

I have found a new line of hair color that does not have ammonia or use hydrogen peroxide. (picture here on the left)  This  product works well, has a nice smell, doesn't stain the skin, and most of the hair color stays in the hair, not much rinses out afterwards.  The color range is very small.   I used the Brown-Red חום ערומי  today, and it turned out more red than brown.  We did a test area to see if she liked the result. If you like the shade of red, it came out very well.  The grey coverage is good, and the hair is very soft to the touch. This type of hair color can also be used as a color rinse, to give highlights, but the hair has to be wet before starting.  A regular dye job the hair has to be dry.   We did the dry method so the color should last for a month, it really depends upon how many washes a week a person does, whether you go out into the sun, and many other factors.

This is the current catalog of colors available for the no ammonia, no hydrogen peroxide.  The colors come out, in my opinion much lighter than what you see here.  We can also mix the colors for more shades.

If you would like to color your hair, I will come to you in Jerusalem. Also available hair cuts, fan, up du, and wig wash and fan.

Shabbat Shalom,
