David Orbach's words of Wisdom, How a Syrian General made Tshuva

" {The general)Naaman got angry : why Amana and Purpar,

rivers in Damascus
are not better of all the rivers in Israel ? 

" Melachim 5, 11_12.

In the Haftarah of our Parasha, Metsorah, 

we see a famous general of Syria
Naaman, who had lots of victories. But he was a leper.

He kidnapped a young Jewish girl from Israel,

who convinced his wife that he
should ask advice from the prophet Elisha. 

And the prophet wrote to the Syrian general 

" Go to the river Jordan and
dip 7 times" . But Naaman was angry because

he was expecting the prophet
Elisha to give a blessing and to touch the 

leper part of his body. Also he
didn't understand that the Jordan, 

an Israeli river, is more holy than the
Syrian rivers.
In reality, the prophet Elisha wanted to

teach a lesson to the Syrian
general who was very selfish and haughty 

because of his military victories.

The prophet wanted to teach him humility, because 

his skin disease was
because of his haughtiness, it was a moral disease.
At the end the Syrian general went to the Jordan 

river and made Tshuvah " I
recognize that there is no other G-d on Earth

than in Israel".
The Jordan, called Yarden in Hebrew, is the

most sacred river in Israel.
Whoever dip in the Jordan river gets the 

holiness of Eretz Israel.

One day will come that all the people of the 

Earth will recognize, like this
Syrian general, that the river Jordan, the West Bank

and the Judean desert
belongs to the People of Israel for 4,000 years, 

since our Father Avraham.
About the Golan, you can see on this Psalm 42 

that I was singing with Aaron
Razel in the Mahon Meir, that King David wrote

3,000 years ago that the
Hermon and the Golan are in the Land of Israel.
