This is something all of us women are going to have to deal with and face at some point in our lives.
Though in my professional opinion and from my years of treating women, the truth is that every woman will get some kind ofosteoporosis.
Though some women will get it worse than others. Most important is what a woman decides to do  when she gets her results back from the bone scan.
And please if you have not gotten a bone scan and you are 45 years
 or older, you are later than late, please go now.
So, what you do before you get osteoporosis and what you do
 after you get your diagnosis is very important.
I am a huge component of taking action right away if not
 already doing the proper things to prevent osteoporosis 
and keeping it from getting worse.
Yes, I am a believer in taking calcium and eating more
 foods full of calcium ( did you know that sesame seeds
 are very high in calcium), and in certain cases, I think that
 hormone replacement therapy is needed.
Though, ladies (and men), hands down, exercise is
 the one proven time tested answer to osteoporosis,
 before, during and after the inevitable diagnosis.
It is another one of G-d’s paradoxes; stress on the 
bone makes it stronger.
Said another way, when we perform weight bearing 
exercises using the differentbones of our body, those 
bones get stronger and the bone density in that bone is greater.
Weight bearing consists of a number of different exercises. 
Some are more effective than others.
Hands down again, lifting weights is the most effective 
and most specific. Walking is weight bearing as well, though
 as you can see less specific and more general.
If you have daughters or know young girls, this is the time 
they might startexercising and performing some weight 
bearing exercises, so they can play an active part 
in a lesser degree or less serious diagnosis of osteoporosis.
 This is the other way that one can directly affect the
 direction of their health and well being.
