Chodesh Tov from Radio Free Nachlaot, coming to you from deep inside Nachlaot, Jerusalem's coolest neighborhood - "Where Shlomo Meets Jerry" and anything can (and does) happen.
Our Sages tell us that during the days of Moshiach the boundaries of Israel will increase to fill the world and the boundaries of Jerusalem will increase to fill the Land of Israel. In anticipation of that expansive energy, Nachlaot has expanded to fill Jerusalem in more ways than one - now with the debut of our New and Improved broadcasting location (Undisclosed Studio "G" as in "Gevaldt" ) we are literally GROWING LIKE CRAZY.

How big are we growing? Well, since it's Adar we may tell you a Fish Story - and speaking of fish - Dudu Dagim (David's Fish) in the Machanae Yehuda Shuk is the ONLY place you should think about buying your fish - especially during ADAR, the month of the year you are most likely to hear the Dr. Demento favorite "Fish Heads" played on Radio Free Nachlaot with increasing frequency! When you stop by David Dagim (in the closed Shuk on Sheked Street, parallel to Agrippas) tell Dudu, Tuvia, Yosef and the gang you heard about them on Radio Free Nachlaot, won't you?

MID-MORNING AND NOT-QUITE MIDNIGHT MAYA

"Maya in the Morning" has now morphed into Mid-Morning Maya and Not-Quite Midnight Maya (especially since seeing our new broadcast digs - "No More Jammie Radio" in the mornings at Undisclosed Studio A!). DJ Maya is bringing her high-energy soulful musical neshama (and a whole lotta MP3 files) to new days and times - Tuesdays between 11am - 1pm Jerusalem Time, and Wednesday evenings between 9 and 11pm. She's also launching her very own blog page - watch for it on our web site when she's ready to publish it (soon, we think!). Eddy Vedder, you better start packing your bags - if Maya's magic doesn't entice you to come to Israel, nothing will!

Brrrr ... baby, it's cold outside! FINALLY! And we're glad about it, don't get us wrong - especially after our Long Hot Summer that actually lasted until mid-November. But with the cold comes surprise plumbing problems - including exploding Dude Shemeshes and bursting pipes. We've seen it happen every winter - in fact during the winter of 2007/2008, Nachlaot experienced a record number of Dude Shemesh traumas which soaked our streets and turned water into ice overnight. So we thought we'd tell you now - YOSSI BARAK (Jason Burke) "The British Plumber" is the guy to call for all your plumbing emergencies. After all, what do you most want to hear when you're ankle-deep in water? "The British are Coming! The British are Coming!" It's true the Brits are famous for doing things "properly," and plumbing is no exception. Ariel Elisha's first album "Holding Space" was so good we couldn't wait until the next album. But we had to learn patience, because after all, you can't rush genius.
