When we changed to Winter Time here in Israel, most people are still asleep when the sun rises. But they miss out on the sky the color turquoise. This shade of blue is the inspiration for the Tzizit techelet. But if you wait and get up later you miss it. I captured the techelet for you this morning!

Wrather report calls for Rain and Storm today October 25th
The weather report calls today for Rain and storm, but this morning it is a balmy 26 degrees, not a cloud in sight. We have just changed to Winter Time here in Israel, and traditionally we start to say the blessing for rain. Well I did bring a jacket but forgot the umbrella. We will see later on if we will actually have rain. So enjoy the nice weather while it lasts!

Improve your English Writing Skills!
There are two writing courses on this website
http://www.live-english.net/en/english.php/2012/03/07/53-improve-english-writing-skills
One is the General English writing course, You will get 6 assignments to do, it is best if you do them once a week, so you can get used to writing regularly. Each assignment will be graded and uploaded to the site.
The second is the Business English writing course. Here you will first correct your CV, you will write a Formal Business Email, and Agenda and other types of business writing.
What makes this course different from other Writing courses? Well, these are types of writing that you will most probably need to use in your daily life.
When your writing is corrected, not only is the mistake corrected, but also a background about why the correct version is better, a grammar issue explained, and maybe a link for you to look at in further detail, spelling is corrected, punctuation.
I am one of the teachers on this site and I spend a lot of time correcting these assignments for the Writing courses.
Who needs these courses? Well, even if you already speak English, you may need help in writing. Of the four writing skills, writing is the last one that people usually master in any language.

Enough of the stabbing and shooting: Abu Mazen: Show us what Peace looks like!
We in Israel have to ask the world, What do you want? These attacks on unarmed civilians have got to stop! A 70 year old woman was attacked? Is she a soldier? Doesn't she have the right to go shopping at 5:30pm in the evening? http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/201895#.Vh6ijvmqqko
Many people are scared, but if you are like me you are angry! I have a pepper spray canister and I am not afraid to use it.
But really, what we need if the Arabs really want to live in the same place is to see and feel what peace feels like. Terror is not likely to get the PA what they want. Whenever there is an attack, it strengthens the right wing. More closures, more police, more army, more violence on both sides. Nowadays, with the last few attacks, passerbys don't run away, they jump on the attacker, beat him up until the police can take care of the situation. When the police or the army see an attack in progress, they shoot to kill, and it is this killing that makes international news. This is misleading and unfortunately is what the world sees. They don't see the culture of incitement in the Arab media, or the misleading textbooks that are studied in the PA classrooms.
What do the Arab teenagers have to do in the afternoons? Do they play organized football? Do they learn computer science? Do they do Art? Do they do Cooking class? I really don't know, maybe they learn how to knife people. This is what we see.
Why don't Arabs have National Service? Why don't they help each other? Can't the Arab youth work in the Red Crescent ambulances? Fire department? Can't they learn how to help others instead of harming? It would get them off the street, and help solve manpower problems in the Arab sector and at the same time teach helping skills instead of killing skills.

Almost attack at David's Harp Bridge in Jerusalem
In order to tell the government that the citizen of Israel cannot stand for this, if I were in a position of power, I would call a general strike of all businesses, busses, transportation until the problem is solved.
How do we solve the problem?
As I have written before on this blog, I would have people from the Arab parts of town walk around with plastic backpacks.
Then I would have all the citizens of Israel take a pledge to support and protect the State of Israel. If a person doesn't want to pledge, then they don't have to stay here. There are many other countries that are Arab, that they can go to. There is only one Jewish state and what happened in North Africa from 1948 -1960 that the Arabs commited terrorism and the Jews left, is not going to happen now. Violent people do not belong in Israel.
If a person commits a terror act, not only should they lose their citizenship, but deported, not only then but their whole extended family. They should also pay for all their own medical care at tourist prices and compensate the person or the person's family as well.

Advice to Netanyahu . . . Make Terror prohibitively expensive and untenable
In other news, Parents are not sending their children to school today, Thursday over protest to the security guards leaving before the end of classes. In many high schools, the security guard leaves at 1:30 and classes can go on until 4:30pm. We parents pay an extra fee directly to the Municipality to pay for the hours of the security guard, so they should stay on duty for the whole school day.
Being that I am a private citizen, I believe that everyone has the right to live in security in our own country. So in addition to my suggestions I made earlier this week, I feel that the Old City of Jerusalem should be free of guns and weapons. Just as we all have to go through a security gate to get into the Kotel Plaza, so all the gates of the Old City should be monitored as well. The only people who should have guns are the police and the army. Why does a shop owner need one?
Everyone who lives in the Old City has to turn in their guns and hunting knives and then metal detectors would be set up in each gate of the Old City. Everyone going to the Old City would go through the gateways, ensuring the safety of everyone!
How do we make terror too expensive? Each family whose members participate in any violent actions has to pay the government $1,000,000 This money would be used for compensation of the victims.
Just a few thoughts.

Hoshana Rabba - This great and Holy day is marred by recent events
Rabbi Atom Henkin, his wife Na'ama Henken were shot in their car in front of their 4 young children.
Nehemia Lavi and Aharon Bennett were stabbed on their way to Judaism's holiest site, the Kotel.
There are security measures being taken, to limit access to the Old City of Jerusalem to Arabs over the age of 50, but no limitation on women.
The terror groups accept responsibility for these brutal murders. Yes, it is important for the actual murderers to be caught, but those who send and incite should really accept responsibility and be tried in a court of law. Why not? Incitement to murder is a crime too.
Other measures that could be taken:
Is there any reason that guns and long hunting knives be held by a violent population? Why can't gun ownership by Arabs be forbidden? Make them turn in their guns if they want to live in a peaceful country like Israel?
Yes it is difficult to check every bag and purse. So, like in violent schools in Los Angeles, for a while the school officials required that all backpacks and purses be see-through plastic. This was to make it easy for the security to see what a person is carrying. So if the Arabs are going to be violent, so make them carry see-through plastic purses and backpacks. Yes, it would be an imposition, but I would feel safer.
If they are violent and can't control their impulses, then treat them as such.
We as a whole need to atone for our sins, and the world has to stand with us, the people of Israel to rid ourselves of these murderers. There is nothing honorable about stabbing and shooting.
The government of Israel has to decide once and for all that we will not tolerate any more bloodshed, for any reason.
