Do you like Chocolate and want to study for a Doctorate at Cambridge University? This is for you!

I had to post this as everyone seems to like chocolate.  I, myself was allergic to chocolate much of my childhood, but now I'm able to eat it again.  This is a job opportunity for anyone who holds a European passport and hold a 4 year degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or engineering.  Click here to see if you qualify. but you better hurry, because the deadline is August 29th!

http://www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/4702/

Why is this a good field?  Well, there are some products that add some healthy ingredients to chocolate.  I've seen and tested Vitamin C chocolate, but the kids do taste the vitamins.

 Questions on the table:
What makes chocolate melt at body temperature?
What additives make it last longer? shorter?
What benefits does chocolate have for the body?
Why does dark chocolate seem to have health benefits and milk chocolate does not?
Why some people love chocolate, and others hate it?
Why are some people allergic to chocolate?
Why does chocolate help relieve depression?

I wish the lucky candidate much love of chocolate and we are all waiting for the results of your research!

Jerusalem just gets more beautiful everyday!

Most of the time we think of downtown Jerusalem as very busy, the train goes round and round, but here is a nice corner for meditation.  But, no place to sit, really, Ok, a standing meditation.

Tele-commuting is good for the company, but what about the employee?

Should businesses contract out work to telecommuters?  The statistics are very supportive of the idea that  when a company that cuts down on expenses, their net profit rises.

The company has lower overhead, no employee taxes, no equipment to buy for the employee, no health insurance, there is only an upside for hiring employees as private contractors.

What is the story for the employees?  They can choose where to work, most choose to work at home, designating a place or a corner in the house to work from, and hope that it is quiet enough to get work done.  They have to pay their own taxes, health insurance, pension plan, and register as a business so that they can receive money legally.
What are the pros for the employee?  They can set their own hours, theoretically.  Well, I have been working for 5 years as a telecommuter, teaching English, and there are advantages, but also disadvantages.  One benefit that has been touted is that telecommuters set their own hours. It is not exactly true.  I, in general, set  my hours, but then maybe there won't be students at all the times I would like to work.  If I am not working a certain amount of time, and because I'm not on a salary,  I only get paid for the time I'm on-line teaching.   The telecommuter has to be very strict, and when there is a student, everything else has to wait.  No interruptions of any kind.  Well, when there is an air raid siren like we had in July in Israel, so yes, there was an interruption, but I just picked up my laptop and moved into the protected space in my apartment,  But barring that, all my attention goes toward my student on-line.

In the office or in the school, you have camaraderie.  In the Telecommuting world this  is gone. and  there is no interpersonal interaction between employees. Yes, there is a Facebook group, but it is not the same. If you like to "chat" between classes, so then this work model is not for you.

The money.  Yes, we had to get to that.  An independent contractor can set the amount of money, but now there is a lot of competition.  If you don't set your price low enough, then there might not be enough work than at a higher price.  Other websites that provide the same service could set their price lower and for a while at least, there won't be as many hours.

So the telecommuter ends up being under-employed.  To pick up the slack, I do other things to make money, (blogging, teaching music, haircuts) but not everyone can do that.

In the final analysis, the decision to work as a telecommuter requires a lot of faith, that you will succeed, but how long will it take?

This Time We Should Believe Hamas!

Hamas says that they are going to use the truce to re-arm and build up again for the next war.  This time we should believe them!  Israel should use its technology and really block all the rockets in.  This way we know that they will not harm Israel, but only themselves.   See the video above.

Hamas receives money from Qatar and UAE, cement from Israel's humanitarian aid, electricity, gas and food from the Israeli taxpayer. So they are going to get more rockets, and this time even longer range rockets.  Maybe they will overshoot Israel and get Lebanon and Syria!   Don't even think that they would use the money to rebuild their territory.

It is becoming well known that Gaza has been used as one big Human Shield. As the journalists come home, they now are filing reports about how they were treated, told what to report under threat of expulsion, and worse.   Rockets were fired from house, mosques, hospitals and even graveyards!  There were a few video reports that show a rocket being fired right behind the journalists.

This time I really believe it. Hamas has not revoked its charter and still wants to wipe Israel from the map.  Wake up World!  This is not only Israel's war, it is Your war too!  Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, surrounded by dictatorships, Muslim Extremists, and terrorist entities.  When they say that they are going to re-arm, so believe it.

I do.

Do something about it!

51 Ways to Be Good to Your Joints...

You may have read in the past or  heard of some of these   "51 Ways to be Good to your Joints", written in a article on "Online home of Arthritis Today. "
Here, I would like to remind you about  a few of them.  So, listen up
1. Ditch the High Heels---unless you are a fashion model, chances are  you can live without the high heels. Experts say a three-inch heel stresses your foot seven times more than a one-inch heel.  In addition, heels put extra stress on your knees and lower back...and yes, believe it or not,  your jaw as well.

2. Increase your ROM---- Range of motion exercises, such as stretching are a good way to keep your muscles, joints and ligaments flexible and strong.  I would say that this tip is the most important and almost a guarantee to keep  you out of pain.
"LOSE OR USE"  says Dr Tova...
range of motion

3. Develop Strong Abdominals---We all know what strong abdominals can do for our posture, balance and overall health; what you may not know is  that studies show that improving strength and  balance are key to preventing falls and protecting joints from damage.

4. Bulk Up--- Strength training is the best way to boost your metabolism. Research shows that lifting weights creates denser bones and builds stronger muscles that help stabilize and protect joints.                                                                                                                                                                                             lifting weights

5. Brace Yourself--- Elbow wrist, knee and other joint braces not only prevent injury but also reduce the load on the joints.  I may recommend a brace to a patient in order for them to move more without fear of injury.  So, the joint is protected while you are more active on or off the job.

Hamas broke the cease-fire after only two hours.

by Rachael Alice Orbach

Our high hopes were dashed after only two hours into the 72 hour humanitarian cease fire.  The rockets were shot at  10:04 am today at Israel in the Eshkol region.

If Hamas says that they want the cease-fire but they don't have control over all the rocket launching people, then we really don't have a read address of people who are in charge to negotiate with.

Israel - Hamas is on the Verge of a Cease-Fire

By Rachael Alice Orbach
It might finally happen? There is no way to tell.  So far, since 7:56, Hamas has not fired any rockets into Israel.  The time is now 8:46, and this might be a record for Hamas keeping a cease-fire.  Keep tuned for updates.

Hamas is working very hard to try to win the war.  If not on the battlefield itself, because Israel has been finding and destroying as many rocket launchers, that are hidden inside schools, mosques, hospitals, private homes, and even cemeteries.    But they have a firm hold on the journalists that are in Gaza itself.  They do not let photographers take pictures of anyone who is firing a rocket, even if they are in military garb, and they don't photograph Hamas operatives get into Red Crescent ambulances for transport or other damning evidence. They want the world only to see Israel destroying.   Journalists are threatened and equipment taken away if they don't write and tell the "narrative" that Hamas wants the world to hear.  this is half the truth and in my book, a half-truth is a whole lie.

Well, "The Sleeping Bear" has finally be awoken,  Israel has had enough of absorbing rocket fire, mortars and terrorist infiltration from underground tunnels.  A cease-fire will only be acceptable if Hamas demilitarizes, and there is no threat ever again to Israel's existence.  The alternative is to  keep fighting until Israel demilitarizes Hamas by itself.
