After Election Mess, literally

It has taken a whole week for the city to clean up after the election petek dump.  Even if you are happy with the results of the elections, the amount of paper that gets wasted is such a Shanda!  Did seeing the names of the parties on the ground influence you about which party to vote for?  I made my decision weeks before.  It should be from a sense of public duty that people always clean up their trash, and not only during elections.

Helping children with NLP

So many of the problems that adults have started in their childhood.   If you have a child, who has the problem of crying all the time, I suggest that you try the following technique.

Have the child choose a toy, a certain pencil, pen or everyday object,  or a piece of jewelry (for a girl).  The next time that the child is being bothered, have the child say  silently, "Nothing that anyone says can ever hurt me, I am a very smart, capable person."  Have the child touch the object and smile.

You do this with the child the first time,  Have the child practice this with you.

Observe the child over the next few days, and sometimes you might have to do some reminding, and that is expected.

Try this with you child, and   try it on yourself as well!

If you want other techniques in NLP, contact me and set up a session!

Do you really have to yell?

Causes of anger

Why do people get angry?  Usually anger is a secondary emotion. The first emotion is sadness, or something disappointing happened to you.  The anger comes later when the primary emotion gets too frustrating and it needs an outlet.  Anger is the outlet that most people use to get noticed by other people.

Why anger?

Other people use anger to get compliance from others.  This can work for a while, but the long term effects are often that the other people draw away from the chronically angry person.  No one wants to be yelled at for every little thing.  The angry person is left alone, and then the person is known as the complainer who never gets visits or phone calls from others.

Effects of anger

Usually the angry person is not aware of the full effects of always being angry on other people, as well as, on himself.  There are many physical problems that can be caused by being angry, high blood pressure, headaches, and the list goes on.

How can you prevent getting angry?

The best way to prevent getting angry is to use anger management techniques.  Whenever you feel frustrated, know that anger may not be far away, So, take a deep breath, count to 10.  If you are in a situation that you can take a break, then go for a short 10 minute walk. If you can't get away, then learn techniques like Reiki, or EFT to calm down.  You can go to a NLP Master or Practitioner, and learn how to anchor positive emotions instead of angry ones.    Use a daily emotions journal in which you write the situations in which you usually get angry, and in the journal, write the situation, what happened, and most importantly, write the proper response that you should have done instead of getting angry.

I bless you that if you follow these steps, then anger will be in your past and not in your present or future.
Call me to set up personal consultation, the first half hour session is free.

Business and Politics are back to usual in Jerusalem

Business is back to usual in Jerusalem after two and a half days off from work and school.  There is still a little bit of snow on the ground, just to make it a little difficult to walk, I actually slipped and fell yesterday, ripping my glove while I tried to run back home to get a neck warmer for my son.  He ended up getting it himself, so I fell for nothing.  Don't worry, I'm not hurt!

The elections are coming up, it is all too confusing.  Too many parties with the word "home" in it.
There is Likud is Our Home, which is made up of Likud with Avidor Lieberman's party.  As I am a card carrying Likud member this is very disappointing for me, because if Lieberman's party were not in the list, then it would be the one to vote for.  But his party swings Netanyahu back to the Left, instead of the nice Right, but not too far right list that was elected in the Primaries.  So, I guess that I will not be voting this time for the Likud.  Too bad, Moshe Feiglin is in the 20's in the list, and he might have made it in the Knesset after  striving for these long years.  I'm sure that there are many people like me that really don't want to have anyone who is under corruption charges running.

The other party that I was thinking of voting for is the new Mavdal, Bayit HaYehudi.  This is being headed by Naftali Bennet,  who is new to politics,  and is really the new driving force behind the party.  He has a right wing platform, settling in the Land of Israel, standing for Israel, and love for the People of Israel.
I will probably vote for טוב  on Jan. 22

Shas,  They have lots to be thankful for.  Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, had a mild stroke yesterday, and today is back home.  This is a shock for the Shas Party, they have relied on him as their spiritual and political mentor for so long that it won't be the same party if Rabbi Yossef passes away anytime soon, G-d forbid.  I am not going to vote for Shas, but I wish everyone to be well.  Shas will be in the Knesset, but it is unsure if they will be chosen for positions in the government.

Otzma Yisrael is too right wing, and I doubt that they will pass the threshold to have seats.

Tenuva - This party is made up of politicians who swing the way the wind blows.  They have been in so many other parties that it is difficult to know what they really stand for and who is their political base.  Maybe they will get people like themselves from Tel Aviv to vote for them.  (did I say something not right about Tel Aviv? It is a nice city, it just reminds me of the Valley in Los Angeles County where everything looks the same, very easy to get lost there)

Labor  Well, they are going down the tubes, they don't really have a platform that is worth voting for, they do have some big names who are running.  But do we really trust that they are going to do what the platform says?

Have fun on January 22nd, and vote with your convictions.  Where do you stand?  Feel free to comment, this is my first political post so I'm ready for the fight!  Keep comments clean and to the point, no mudslinging or I won't approve it.  I'm the blog owner so I have the power!

Snow in Jerusalem

We have just finished with the most fierce storm that Israel has had in 20 years!  First we had wind and heavy rain, on Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday afternoon and evening, snow started to fall. Thursday was a no school day because of the continuing falling snow, and today Friday, there is also no school because of the snow that is on the ground.  It is very cold, and since this much snow has not fallen since the winter of 1992, when Jerusalem was snow-bound for three days, drivers do not have the extensive experience of winter conditions, the Ministry of Education has cancelled school today as well.
The Light Rail train is running, and yesterday it was free to ride the train, so that people would not be tempted to try to drive.
Enjoy your day off, and don't forget to cook and prepare for Shabbat!

The Traveling Hair Salon will take to the road on Sunday, so call now for your appointment for a Haircut, Color or a Facial!

No School today, Friday

This picture is from January 10th!  Happy Snow Day!

The Education Ministry has announced that today, January 11th, the schools in Jerusalem will not open.  This is to allow the snow to melt on the roads, so that parents who are not experienced in driving in bad road conditions will not have the risk of accidents.

There is still snow on the roads, as well as on the cars and vegetation.

Don't take your Umbrella in this storm!

These are the casualties from the big storm that is hitting Jerusalem this week!  While walking about getting things done, this is what I found: broken umbrellas just left by frustrated people!  Today, the Ministry of Education is holding classes until 12:00 noon, and then sending the children home. My son's school just called and instead of sending him at 12:00, they are sending him at 11:00am!  Not much learning is going on today!   The snow is to hit this afternoon and this evening!  Phone and Internet lines are expected to be hit as well.  Plan ahead and get prepared, as supermarkets may not be able to get their normal deliveries.

Stay warm and dry inside!

Rainy and Snowy in Jerusalem

Sometimes even here in the middle of the desert of Jerusalem, we get heavy rains and even snow.

So to bring in the new Year 2013, we might have snow on Wednesday!

The clouds are gathering, and we are waiting for the change in the weather!

I will keep you posted and have a good sweet New Year!
