The Importance of having a good logo!

Having a good logo is very important for your business.  Sometimes we can design our own logos, and they really hit it off, but most of the time, you should go to a professional.

This story demonstrates why a logo is so important.  I had to go to a clinic that was not in my neighborhood for a check up.  I found the street where the clinic was located, and started to look at the addresses.  I found the clinic.  Or so I thought.  But when I walked in, my doctor was at another clinic in the same neighborhood.  I went out to find the other clinic.  I walked and walked, now it was only 5 minutes before my appointment, and with this doctor, you only get 6 minutes.  Yes, on the list next to the door, each person only gets 6 minutes,  and it takes a month to get an appointment.  So it was be on time, or have to wait another month!  I walked right past the other clinic and didn't see it.  I went back to the original clinic, and asked them where the other one was.  They pointed across the street.  I felt stupid.  But then, I looked up and I saw that the other clinic had the old logo, and not the new one.  I was only thinking about the new logo of the kupot cholim, so I walked right past.  In the end, I was right on time for my appointment, and now the next one is after the Chagim!

As you can see, a well designed logo is a magnet for your customers.  How do they see you?  Which colors best describe you?  I have three logos that I am testing now.  One is my business card, which is pink, another is an ad in a local weekly of about 10 pages that comes out once a week on Fridays, that is mostly turquoise, and another is teal that will be in a book that will be in use the whole year, from the local Matnas. I will test and see which brings in the most business, and then in the future, I will go with that one.

If you need help in choosing a logo, let your customers decide!

Good luck with your business!

Solving business problems

Now that school is coming up in a few weeks, there are things to get ready. Buy books, backpacks, pencils and paper, yes, all the everyday items that everyone needs.

School is the best place to get ready for the real world out there.  My son, who is now just 18, has used his summer to work in supermarkets.  This is not his final goal, that is to become a doctor!  No, I didn't push him all his life and tell him that he has to be the Jewish Mothers dream. . My son the doctor!  No, I didn't do that. He came up with this by himself.

And that brings me to the subject that I have been thinking about for today.

Why does a particular business exist?  What makes one business different from another?
How does a business carve out a niche?  These are weighty questions that every business has to address if it is going to move forward.

What problem do you want to solve with your business?  A pizza place solves the problem of hunger. Yes, it might not be the most nutritious food, but it does solve that problem. Doctors solve problems of ill-health.  Teachers solve learning deficiencies,  Real estate agents solve housing problems.  Hair stylists solve bad hair days. (we hope)

When a business looks at their customers as people who need to solve problems, it opens up possibilities. Better customer service, better advertising.  You see your business not as just a way to make money, but as as way to make a difference in the world.

Rachael is available now for consultations for you in solving business problems.  Contact at: 052-750-0608

Promoting your business, New ways or Old ways?

In the modern age, we are tempted to think of business promotion as just a process of sitting at the computer and writing ads to Twitter. Facebook and Yahoogroups.  But there is more to business promotion. You mustn't forget print advertising as well.

Defining your market is very important.  You need to have a picture in your mind of who is your ideal customer.  For me, I am a business coach, as well as the Traveling Hair Salon. www.travelinghairsalon.weebly.com  This is where I practice what I preach.

I have a blog for the hair salon on the weebly website, I tweet, Google +, Facebook, and Yahoogroup. I put up updates every week or so, and there have been a few calls from those sources.

I put in an ad in a local print publication that goes out to Har Nof and Givat Shaul.  This has been running for two weeks.   Another print publication will go out to Kiryat Moshe and Givat Shaul right before the Chagim.  So I have that covered.

Business have to run on results.  What has been the biggest business draw so far?  For me, I have had the best response from signs that I put in the apartment building bulletin board.  Yes it is a lot of work. I print a sign on my computer, designing it myself, photocopy 100 at a time. I go to each building personally.   I would say it takes about one and a half hour to put up all these signs.  But then, I get calls.

Everybody who calls me, usually I get an appointment.  Then, I follow up.  I make sure that I have all the materials I need.  If I'm missing something, then I go and buy it. I go to the appointment.  I'm on-time.
I schedule enough time so I don't have to be rushed while I'm doing the work.  I'm not worried right now about fitting in the most amount of appointments into my day.  I want to give quality service and I don't leave unless the customer is satisfied.

So, in my opinion, the Internet is good, I have had a few appointments from the Internet, but the most response has been the old fashioned way.  Signs in the apartment buildings.
